Miloi are a race distantly related to gnomes, but of much more solid temperament. Many humans call miloi “halflings” but for obvious reasons miloi disdain the term.

Personality: Miloi want nothing so much as to enjoy life and they usually have little or no intent to reduce any other being’s ability to do the same. Although they will not hesitate to take up arms and defend themselves and their communities from those who would reduce their quality of life. Miloi are good friends and steadfast workers, but when the work is done, they excel at relaxation.

Physical Description: There are three subraces of Miloi, each with different physical characteristics, excepting the pointed eyes and hairy feet which are common to them all:

Stout: Between 3 and 3 ½ feet tall and considerably sturdier of build than the Lightfoot. Stout Miloi weigh between 40 and 50 pounds. They have ruddy complexions and dark colored eyes.

Tallfellow: Stand between 4 and 5 feet tall and have the full range of skin and eye colors found in Lightfoot and Stout Miloi.

Relations: Miloi are master merchants as they know that proper allocation of resources increases productivity and as a result, improves relaxation. To better facilitate trade Miloi actively seek good relations will all intelligent races, except Ogræ who have proved themselves untrustworthy and poor trade partners.

Alignment: Miloi may be of any alignment, but tend toward good.

Miloi Lands: Most Miloi on Auctorus live in the dominion known as the Freetowns of Tallwillow. While the Miloi subraces often live in the same communities, communities are usually dominated by a single subtype.

Religion: The Miloi share deities with the gnomes, the three principal deities are Habaloi (Trickery), Ibaloi (Adventure), Zumakoi (the Home). A small number (mostly Tallfellow) worship Ibaron the champion of the forest.

Language: Miloi have their own language and alphabet, but often learn additional languages.

Names: Miloi names are given at birth and include the given name followed by the mother’s house name. Miloi often go by an affectionate moniker in addition to their given name, such as ‘fuzzyfoot’, ‘shiny ears’, ’roundbelly’ or ‘sweettooth’.
