Survival in the wildest places of the world requires special skills and a special type of hero. Pathfinders fit this specialized role, operating in the wild, much the same way a rogue operates in a dungeon or city, the pathfinders specialist skills aid the party through both knowledge of the environment and practical skills to circumvent dangers or even turn natures hardships into advantages for the party.

Bonus Feats: At 2nd level, a pathfinder gets a bonus combat-oriented feat in addition to the feat that any 1st-level character gets and the bonus feat granted to a human character. The fighter gains an additional bonus feat every sixth level thereafter. These bonus feats must be drawn from the feats noted as fighter bonus feats. A pathfinder must still meet all prerequisites for a bonus feat, including ability score and base attack bonus minimums. These bonus feats are in addition to the feat that a character of any class gets from advancing levels. A pathfinder is not limited to the list of fighter bonus feats when choosing these feats.
Track: Feat is gained for free.
Animal Companions: At 6th level and there after a Ranger may attempt to befriend and retain animal companions. The ranger is limited to his/her class level times two in total Hit Dice of companions. To acquire a companion, the Ranger must win both Animal Empathy and Handle Animal checks versus the target’s Will Save.
Favored Enemy: As the ranger ability, except that ability isn’t gained until 5th level.
Camouflage (Ex): A ranger of 13th level or higher can use the Stealth skill in any sort of natural terrain, even if the terrain doesn’t grant cover or concealment.
Spells: Unlike the closely related Ranger class, the Pathfinder does not gain the ability to cast spells.
